A power track looks simple from the outside: a rail on the wall with sockets you can move. The differences sit in the details, such as how the track is certified, how deep it sits, what the adaptors can do and who stands behind it after installation. This guide works through those details one by one, so you can judge the best power track for your home on the same terms, whichever brand you are looking at. Where we give a figure, it comes from our own brochure, our FAQ or our product specifications.
The best power track for your home is certified to the relevant safety standard and carries the Safety Mark, fits the wall or cabinet it is going into, takes the adaptors you need and stays within its load limit. Add clear warranty terms and a proper installation, and you have a track that will serve you for years.
The first check is the Safety Mark, which in Singapore must be affixed on controlled goods that have been tested and certified to the relevant safety standards. Ask for the registration numbers and look them up yourself. Ours are 220001-00 for the tracks and 220002-00 for the adaptors, and our tracks are certified to BS 5733.
Look at the safety design of the rail as well. Our tracks keep the gaps under 6mm and add soft plastic flaps to prevent accidental contact, which matters in a home with young children or pets. Our article on how power track safety works goes through each feature in more detail.
Start with where the track will go. Our customers most often install one in the living room, the kitchen, the study room and the master bedroom, and each room asks something different of it. A living room track can sit behind the television console, a kitchen track can run along the counter for small appliances, and a study track can sit along the desk for chargers and a monitor.
Think about what you will plug in every day in that room, then work backwards to the length of track and the number of adaptors. The best power track for a kitchen counter is rarely the best one for a bedside table, so plan room by room.
A track is either mounted on the surface of a wall or cabinet, or recessed into a cut-out so it sits flush. The depth decides how it looks on the wall. Our SLIM surface track is 86mm wide and 19mm deep, and our Pro surface track is 88mm wide and 29mm deep.
For a recessed track, the cut-out sizes matter more than the track itself. Ours need a cut-out 71mm wide, 25mm deep for SLIM and 35mm deep for Pro, which your carpenter prepares from the dimensions we provide. Our comparison of surface and recessed power tracks explains which one suits a finished home and which one suits a renovation.
Length is where most plans change at the last minute. Measure each stretch of wall or counter with a measuring tape before you order. Our SLIM track is made up to a 1.5-metre length and our Pro track up to a 3-metre length.
Standard lengths take 3 to 5 working days to prepare. A length outside the price list, or any other customisation, takes 7 to 10 working days, so build that into a renovation schedule.
The adaptors are the part you will handle every day. Check which plug types they take, whether USB charging is available, and whether the track supports connectors beyond power. Our SLIM series is our slimmest track, our Pro series adds integrated connectors for HDMI, Ethernet and USB, and our Pro Plus adds smart lighting integration and works with Google Home, SmartLife and Alexa. Some brands, ours included, also call the track a power bar or an e-bar, so the same checks apply whatever the name.
If app control matters to you, our smart power track guide shows what the Pro Plus lighting and our Smart Adaptors can do.
Ask how many adaptors a length of track can hold. One metre of our power track supports up to 11 adaptors.
Our guide on how a power track works shows how the adaptors clip on, lock and share the load.
A track carries power along its whole length, so it has a total limit as well as a per-adaptor one. The total power draw of every appliance on one of our tracks should stay within 8,000 watts. In a kitchen, where a kettle, an air fryer and a microwave may run together, add up the wattage on their rating labels before you decide how many tracks you need.
A long warranty only helps if its terms cover what actually wears out. Read what is covered, what is excluded and who carries out the repair. We give up to 3 years of warranty on our tracks and 3 years on our adaptors sold in Singapore, from the date of collection. Our article on lifetime warranty claims shows the questions worth asking before you rely on any warranty, ours included.
The best power track still depends on a correct installation, because the wiring connection at the end terminal is the step that needs an electrician. When you buy from us, our own electrician and contractor install the track. If your interior designer or contractor installs it instead, we provide the measurements and specifications, and they make sure everything is installed properly.
Compare prices on the same terms: the length of track, the colour, the number of adaptors and the installation. Our tracks start from S$147 for a 50cm SLIM Series track in a standard colour, and our power track price guide shows how the track, the adaptors and the installation add up.
Once you know what to check, the same list works for any brand. Our side-by-side look at Nexen, Line8 and Eubiq power tracks applies these questions to three of the brands sold in Singapore, so you can judge each one on certification, depth, adaptors and warranty. Reviews from owners help too, so read what people say after a year of daily use as well as on the day of installation.
Our page of Nexen power track reviews gathers what our own owners say, in their words.

Yes. Each adaptor clips into the rail and twists to lock, so you can add, move or remove adaptors yourself once the track is wired in. That is the main reason to choose a power track over fixed sockets.
Yes. Our power tracks can be installed to replace any traditional socket outlet. Where the existing socket sits inside the planned run, its wiring point can serve the track.
Our Pro track can be customised in length, with multimedia connectors such as HDMI or Ethernet ports, and with surface laminates to match your interior. Customisation takes 7 to 10 working days.
Yes. Register your Nexen product warranty online after you collect your order, and keep the warranty sheet that comes with your purchase, which sets out the full terms.
